Preguntas Frecuentes: Tinturas

Frequently Asked Questions: Tinctures

Why consume plants in tinctures?

Tinctures are one of the most effective ways to harness the benefits of medicinal plants. Some reasons to choose them include:

✔️ Greater absorption – The body assimilates liquids more easily than solids.

✔️ Digestive activation – Tasting the herb activates the digestive system and improves its effectiveness.

✔️ Long shelf life – Liquid extracts are preserved longer without losing their properties.

✔️ Easy dosing – They can be used in drops, flexibly and easily.

✔️ Plant Efficiency – In a tincture, the plant is in its optimal state for use.

What is a tincture?

A tincture is a concentrated extract of a plant's active ingredients, obtained by maceration in a hydroalcoholic vehicle (water and alcohol). This method extracts the plant's most potent compounds and makes them bioavailable to the body.

Due to their concentration, tinctures are taken in small doses, diluted in 30 ml of water or directly under the tongue.

Why is there alcohol in your tinctures?

Alcohol is essential in our tinctures because:

🔹 Extracts and preserves the active ingredients of the plant.

🔹 Ensures greater bioavailability of medicinal compounds.

🔹 It works as a natural preservative, ensuring that the tincture has a long shelf life.

📌 Don't want to consume alcohol? You can reduce the alcohol content by adding the tincture to hot (not boiling) water and letting it sit for a few minutes. This will evaporate much of the alcohol.

How do you take tinctures?

Tinctures can be consumed in two ways:

✅ Sublingual – Place the drops directly under your tongue and wait a few seconds before swallowing.

✅ Diluted – Mix the drops in a little water, tea, or juice.

📌 It's generally recommended to take them twice a day, but the exact dosage varies depending on the tincture and the individual. All directions are on our labels.

What dose should I take and for how long?

🔹 The recommended doses are on the labels and on our website.

🔹 Since each body responds differently, the use of tinctures can be adjusted as needed.

🔹 In general, it is recommended to take them for 21 consecutive days, then rest for a week, and repeat the treatment if necessary.

How should I care for my dyes?

To keep them in optimal conditions:

✔️ Store them in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.

✔️ Keep the bottle tightly closed to prevent evaporation and contamination.

Are there any restrictions on its consumption?

Yes, although they are natural, our tinctures are NOT recommended in the following cases:

🚫 Pregnancy and breastfeeding – Some plants may be too potent for this stage.

🚫 Children under 10 years old

If you have any questions, consult a healthcare professional before using them.

What is the expiration date of tinctures?

When stored properly, Matria tinctures have a shelf life of 2 to 5 years.
